Currently Coveting | Holiday Edition

Marc Jacobs Rollerball Trio - Sephora | Coudorouy Circle Skirt (Summer Peach) -  American Apparel Benefit They're Real Mascara - Sephora | Korres Lip Butter (Quince) - Sephora | Luma Skirt - Brandy Melville
In just 12 days I'm off to Barcelona with my family. We don't often get away in summer because my parents are busiest at work, which makes it even more exciting!

As an avid shopper, I've already done my research and prepared an extensive wishlist for my holiday. I was very happy to discover there are a few shops that aren't available where I live, namely American Apparel, Sephora and Brandy Melville.

I've listed a couple of things I want to get and I'll be sure to share my purchases in a haul post when I get back!

Are you going on holiday anytime soon? Have you got any recommendations in Barcelona?

Prom 2013

Dress: Valentino | Shoes: Zara | Clutch: Alexander McQueen | Ring: Topshop | Bracelet: Topshop
Yesterday was my Year 11 leavers prom and it's slightly scary to think how fast the past couple of years have gone.

To be honest, parties aren't really my cup of tea but me and my friends went as a group and, despite the awkward start, the evening wasn't too bad!

Although the food was disgusting and the playlist resembled that of a Year 7 disco, it was fun to spend time with my friends and get dressed up.

Anyway, here's what I wore! I had my hair in a plaited updo and I had Essie's berry coloured 'Chocolate Cakes' on my nails to match my lips.

Have you had your prom? What did you wear?

Favourite Summer Nail Polishes

As you can probably tell from the picture above, I've accumulated quite a collection of Essie nail varnish in the last year (and that isn't even all of them), so I thought I'd share my favourite shades for summertime.

This hot, barbie pink is not something I would usually chose, but I think it's fun for summer to add a pop of colour to an otherwise boring outfit.

I mentioned this in my last post, but I had to include it because it's a current favourite of mine. It nails both the neon and orange trends in one go!

A simple pale pink is an essential for all seasons and this pretty shade looks put together without being in your face. It would also be great for a french manicure.

Another neutral which I love is Sand Tropez. It's a gorgeous sandy beige which gives a really polished, mannequin-esque look.

This shimmery lilac nail varnish looks perfect in summer because the sunshine emphasises the subtle flecks of shimmer.

This is a cult product from Essie, but nevertheless, I felt I should include it because the colour is truly beautiful! It looks amazing with a tan and also looks great on toenails.

The quality of Essie nail varnishes is amazing; they come with a large brush and the consistency is thick without being gloopy, making for easy application. At £8 per bottle, it isn't the cheapest nail varnish brand on the market but, in my opinion, it's totally worth spending an extra couple of pounds.

What do you think of Essie nail varnishes? What are your favourite nail colours for summer?

P.S - I really wanted to do my first outfit post today, but I've been a bit under the weather so I've had to put it on hold until I resemble an actual human being rather than a snotty, flemmy mess (ew).

Orange Obsession

Orange is big trend for the summer and, from peach to neon, there's a shade to suit everyone. Here's my top 3 picks for orange products:

This is a great lipstick if, like me, you don't want to go full-out orange on your lips. It is more of a coral-toned orange, which is a lot more wearable in my opinion. Like most MAC lipsticks, the pigmentation is very good, especially as 'Vegas Volt' is an amplified finish.

Cream blush is perfect if you favour a natural look because it doesn't look cakey on the skin. I usually apply this with my Real Techniques stippling brush. The colour can be very subtle or can be built up for a statement look.

The quality of Essie nail varnishes are amazing and the wide brush makes application quick and easy. This neon shade of orange is perfect to bring a pop of colour to a plain outfit and is super summery. For a more muted orange nail, I love 'Tart Deco' by Essie (a pale tangerine/coral colour).

Will you be wearing orange this summer? Have you tried out any of these products?

Review: Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB Beauty Balm

Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB Beauty Balm has been both raved about and slated by various bloggers. The concept is a multifunctional base which hydrates, controls oil, evens skin tone and minimises pores.

I tend to be fairly lazy with make-up in summer so a high SPF combined with light, natural looking coverage in one-step sounded very appealing. Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to try it out since it was on offer for £9 (buy here) compared to the usual £18.

In my experience, the product lives up to the claim to of giving skin a "dewy, fresh look". It is not the highest coverage BB cream that I've tried, but does reduce the appearance of pores and even out redness. Personally, I apply this with my fingers to give a natural, even finish.

The Water Fuse Beauty Balm is also highly hydrating whilst being oil free, which makes it perfect for combination skin.  Unlike other BB creams I've tried, it isn't greasy, but gives the skin a smooth, satin-like texture. With SPF 25, the product is a good alternative to suncream, which tends to be very oily.

The only problem with this product is the that comes in only one shade, so I'd recommend swatching it yourself before picking it up. It is the tiniest bit too dark for my very pale skin, however, I think I can get away with it in summertime and, as you can see in the picture, it is not very noticeable when blended in.

I believe there are also 3 other BB creams in the Dr. Jart range which target different skin types if you're interested in picking one up.

Are you a fan of BB creams? What's your favourite brand?

Review: EOS Lip Balm

Over the past couple of years, I've accumulated a rather extensive collection of lip balms and the EOS ones have been on my wish-list for a long time. So, when my friend kindly brought me back one from America, I was (worryingly) excited.

Obviously, the packaging is the selling point of the product; the distinctive and innovative sphere shape is what caught my eye in the first place. The scent ('sweet mint') is also very fresh and the leaves a pleasant, tingly feeling on the lips. In terms of moisturisation, the balm is fairly average but overall, I'm impressed with the product.

If, like me, you live outside the states and can't get hold of EOS, the Balmi is a similar concept and much more readily available alternative if you want to try out a spherical lip balm

What's your favourite lip product? Are you also a lip balm hoarder?
